“The Carrie diaries – Meet Carrie before Sex and the City”, by Candace Bushnell was published in April 2011. It is a prequel of “Sex and the City” and tells the story of Carrie Bradshaw before her time in New York started. You are not a big fan of Sex and the City so far and you do not like hearing some talk about shoes and fashion all the time? It doesn´t matter. The 389-page book is about the small-town girl Carrie, who is still going to High School and knew exactly what she wanted, if it were not for all the guys and complicated relationships of her friends, which make her think a lot about her way of life. Moreover her thoughts are all about becoming a successful writer. Time for thoughts about shopping and fashion is rare.

Besides she does not want to be the only one without a boyfriend. And like a twist of fate there is a new classmate at school. But – attention. Sebastian Kydd is not someone new nobody wants to talk to. He is the one Carrie fell in love with when she was only a child and Sebastian was still living in town. But he will not be the only one showing interest in her.

It would be boring if this had been the only act. There are not only her problems she has to solve, like how to get into writing program in summer, the next step to become an author, but also the problems of her friends. They just started to discover who they want to be, which get them into trouble.
The book is written from Carries perspective. During reading you are directly connected with Carries thoughts. The plot is set at school, at some friends´ houses or somewhere they go out to, which might be familiar to most of you. While reading it you always want to know what happens next. It is not difficult to understand, although it is written in English. It costs 9,99 € and might be the fitting book for relaxing at a cold and rainy autumn day.
