Our author had the great opportunity to meet the famous DJ Crazy Cuts from New York who is now living in Germany. A nice little exercise to practice your english… and YES, there were a couple of mistakes made by the interviewer.
Do you live here in Dortmund or where do you come from?
Originally I come from New York but I live in Paderborn.
How long did you live in New York for?
Nearly half of my live, about twenty years.
Did you start becoming a DJ in New York?
Yeah, I started at the age of 13.
Did you always dream of becoming a DJ?
Well, actually not always, but what happened was I saw the original Grandwizard Theodore (editor’s note: American DJ who invented scratching) and after seeing him that’s what, you know, inspired me to be a DJ.
Do you like being here so far?
Yeah, it’s quite cool. People are more open-minded over here.
I heard you are mixing some crazy tapes together. Tell us about your music.
It’s just a compilation of many different styles of music. The only style of music which I don’t basically play is what the people call ‘Black Music’. As far as that’s concerned it is not really music in my ears, but I play other styles of music such as House, Rock, Drum ‘N Base, Jungle, Underground-Rap and even Classical, Rhythm and Blues.
That’s cool. So you’re going to mix some of your stuff for us tonight here?
Yes I will.
